| Questions to Ask Your Attorney |
Hiring an attorney is a very important decision and should never be taken lightly, but with a little preparation you can make sure that you hire the right person for the job. There are a number of questions that you should ask a personal injury lawyer before making the decison to hire them. Some of the most basic questions you should ask are as follows:
- What areas do you specialize in?
- Have you handled cases like mine before? If so, how many? What were the results of these cases?
- Will you be the only attorney working on my case? If not, who else will be working with me?
- How long will it take to resolve my case?
- What information can I provide you with to help my case?
- Do you work on a contingent fee basis?
- How do you plan on keeping me informed about my case?
- How long does it typically take you to return your client's calls?
- If you are unavailable, who can I speak to about my case?
- How often do you go to trial?
The list of questions above are very general and you may find it necessary to ask additional questions that pertain to your specific injury or case. No matter what, you should always feel comfortable asking your personal injury attorney anything that comes to mind before, during, or after the consultation.
